I shot the BMW R100 LSB on the sand this morning in Huntington Beach. The Sun and I came to terms and the Coast Guards gave me a round of head-nods. Before I built her I already had an image of her on the beach. Now time to write the article for this baby and get money…

Designing National Monument / Awaza Congress Center by Saraiva + Associados
In words of the architects at Saraiva + Associados, the ambition was to design landmark building for Awaza Congress Center in Turkmenistan, not only as a national monument, but an icon that would be recognized internationally. Its monumental form is derived from a strong symbolic concept which reflects patriotic and cultural values of the country. Transmitting internal organization of Turkmenistan, the volume of the building is broken into five larger groups of spaces, materializing five provinces and forming a Congress Hall as a whole. Five elements are Circulation element, Auditorium element, Events, Business and Square element. National motifs in interiors and dominant green color tone – color of Turkmenistan flag reflect patriotic aims.

The new build consists of seven separate buildings, of varying sizes and heights, along with a road that connects the building itself with the main access road and a seperate road that connects the floor at first level with the floor at the second level – from an aerial perspective, the entire facility is hidden.
The façade extends horizontally along the natural slope, paced by the rows of vines which, along with the earth, form its “roof cover”. The openings or cuts discreetly reveal the underground interior: the office areas and bottle storage areas are situated on the top level and the areas where the wine is produced are arranged along the lower.

The 842-metre-long bridge connects Abu Dhabi Island with the mainland and comprises a sequence of concrete waves that curve up and down from the water to reach a height of 64 metres. A four-lane highway runs across and the two road decks are cantilevered from the sides of the structure.
